The Federal Reserve Banks close on these days.[1] The 2026 FedACH holiday schedule lists the same holidays.[2] When a holiday falls on a Saturday, the Reserve Banks are open on the Friday before. When it falls on a Sunday, they close on the Monday after.

The Nasdaq 2026 calendar has the same closed days and early closes as the NYSE.[7] SIFMA also recommends 2:00 p.m. ET early closes for bonds before several holidays; the tool above shows them for each date.
How the tool counts business days
- A business day is Monday to Friday, except the weekdays the Federal Reserve Banks close.[1] Saturdays and Sundays are not business days.
- The start date does not count. “1 business day after” is the next business day.
- Example: 1 business day after Tuesday, November 10, 2026 is Thursday, November 12. Veterans Day (November 11) is skipped.
- Example: 3 business days after Tuesday, November 24, 2026 is Monday, November 30. Thanksgiving, Saturday and Sunday are skipped.
- Example: 1 business day after Friday, July 2, 2027 is Tuesday, July 6. Independence Day falls on Sunday, July 4, so the Fed closes on Monday, July 5.
- Nacha says an ACH payment can be processed on the same business day, or scheduled one or two business days later.[8] The tool lets you enter the number of business days. Each bank can have its own cut-off time and posting rules; the tool uses the Fed calendar.
What this tool does not cover
- Your own bank. Branch hours, Saturday banking and cut-off times are set by each bank. A bank can be closed on a state holiday.
- State and local holidays. The tool covers federal holidays only. State offices and state-chartered banks can close on other days.
- Years after 2027. The tool gives no result after December 31, 2027.
- USPS 2027. USPS has not published its 2027 holidays. Post Office hours on weekends vary by location.
- Payment cut-off times. The tool counts days. It does not cover FedACH or Fedwire processing windows, Zelle, card payments or RTP.
- Unscheduled closings. Markets and agencies can close at short notice, for example for a national day of mourning. Check the official notice.

Are banks open on Veterans Day 2026?
The Federal Reserve Banks are closed on Wednesday, November 11, 2026. FedACH stops processing at 11:30 p.m. ET on November 10 and resumes at 5:30 p.m. ET on November 11. USPS and federal offices are also closed. The NYSE is open. SIFMA recommends that the bond market close.
Are banks open on Friday, June 18, 2027?
The Federal Reserve Banks are open. Juneteenth falls on Saturday, June 19, 2027, and the Reserve Banks do not close the Friday before. Federal offices, the NYSE and the bond market are closed on June 18.
Is December 31, 2027 a bank holiday?
Not for the Federal Reserve Banks. New Year's Day 2028 falls on a Saturday, so the Reserve Banks stay open on Friday, December 31, 2027. Federal employees get that Friday off. The NYSE is open, and SIFMA recommends a 2:00 p.m. ET early close for bonds.
How do I count business days for an ACH payment near a holiday?
Count Fed business days: skip Saturdays, Sundays and Fed holidays. Nacha says an ACH payment can be processed on the same business day, or scheduled one or two business days later. For example, 3 business days after Tuesday, November 24, 2026 is Monday, November 30, because Thanksgiving and the weekend are skipped. Your bank's own cut-off times can add a day.
Is the stock market open on Columbus Day and Veterans Day?
Yes. The NYSE trades on both days in 2026 and 2027. Banks that follow the Fed calendar and the bond market are closed.

ACH: Nacha's “What is ACH?” page says ACH payments “can be processed in a matter of hours on the same business day, or scheduled the following day or two business days away.” The tool does not assume a number of days; you enter it.
Federal offices: OPM 2026 and 2027 holiday schedules. A Saturday holiday is observed on the Friday before, a Sunday holiday on the Monday after (5 U.S.C. 6103(b); Executive Order 11582). OPM's 2028 table lists Friday, December 31 (2027) as New Year's Day observed. OPM says this is for most federal employees; other schedules can differ.
USPS: the USPS holidays page lists 2026 only. For July 4, 2026 (a Saturday) it says: “Post Offices will be open on Friday, July 3, and deliveries will occur as normal.” USPS has not published 2027, so the tool shows “not yet published” for USPS on every 2027 weekday on which another body closes, including Good Friday (March 26, 2027). The page does not give Post Office hours; check your local Post Office.
NYSE: holidays and early closes for 2026 and 2027 from the NYSE page. NYSE trades on Columbus Day and Veterans Day. In 2027 NYSE closes on Friday, June 18 and Friday, December 24. Because January 1, 2028 is a Saturday, NYSE observes no New Year's Day holiday, so it is open on December 31, 2027. Early close at 1:00 p.m. ET on November 27, 2026, December 24, 2026 and November 26, 2027.

Bond market: SIFMA recommendations for 2026 and 2027. SIFMA recommends a full close on Columbus Day and Veterans Day and an early close (2:00 p.m. ET) on several days before holidays. Good Friday 2026 (April 3) is an early close at 12:00 p.m. ET, not a full close. Good Friday 2027 (March 26) is a full close. These are recommendations, not rules.
